  • misterwolf Plot: Ten years ago, Emperor Yoshi, the fallen leader of the Smash Brothers, told a story to toddlers of his race the story of an ancient ghost warlord named King Boo whose desire to rule over his kind has made him insane. A prophecy foretold that he would be stopped by a squid-like warrior with master sniper skills who would one day replace Yoshi as the leader following his pending death; King Boo overheard this prophecy and teamed up with wizard Ganondorf (known as Ganon during that time), and they both set out to change the former's fate. However, King Boo, despite having destroyed the Squid City underwater, had only sealed it, as Yoshi had secretly sent a squadron to rescue the three infants of the city; they happened to be the Squid Sisters, one of them being the warrior destined to fight King Boo.

  • misterwolf Ten years later, Meggy Spletzer and her sisters Marie and Callie are living happily in South Carolina, and Meggy's leadership over the Smash Brothers is thriving. One night, Meggy has a vision of her father leaving her and her sisters behind. When she wakes up, she speculates that there is more to this vision and that neither she nor her sisters were actually abandoned.

  • misterwolf Meggy is warned by Luigi of King Boo's return and sets out to stop him with the help of her team. However, when they arrive and engage King Boo, he easily overpowers them, having obtained the cursed Crown of Darkness and destroyed the Dark Moon, a galaxy jewel that allows ghosts to be docile; when he destroyed it, the ghosts had become his servants. He also reveals to the Squid Sisters that he was there when their birthplace was destroyed. Meanwhile, Bowser has also returned following his banishment, and he kidnaps a ghost hunting scientist named Elvin Gadd.

  • misterwolf Meggy sends both Luigi and his brother Mario to rescue Gadd; however, Bowser quickly discovers them in his ship and tries to kill them both, but Princess Peach, ruler of the Mushroom Realm and one of the Smash Brothers' high-ranking members, arrives and subdues Bowser before Luigi and Mario save Gadd and return to the earth. Tari, Meggy's second-in-command, is nearly killed by King Boo, while captain Kevin Keene is hospitalized after saving the latter's hostages, forcing Meggy to fight him again. He overpowers her again before claiming that she and her sisters were abandoned by their parents and then gravely injuring her; Meggy lands in a river after she is blasted away. She is awakened by a figure in her head resembling that of Yoshi himself, who advises her to find the Grand Star, a powerful Super Star that allows the being who touches it to be temporarily undefeatable. He also tells her to let her visions of the past flow; they reveal that she and her sisters were not abandoned by their parents, who instead saved their lives by sending them away from Australia and over to Britain. Their father had died distracting King Boo and his army, while their mother was engulfed in the flames of their burning house.

  • misterwolf A recovering Meggy is rescued by Fox McCloud and Toad, who tracked her signal. They take her to the only possible location of the Grand Star, and she manages to find it after several climbs up the mountains. She arrives in the now-destroyed San Francisco with the Grand Star intact. A violent fight erupts between her and King Boo, destroying much of the city's remains; King Boo overpowers and severely burns Meggy alive, but she touches the Grand Star, which heals her and allows her to easily defeat him before eventually destroying the Crown of Darkness with Gadd's help and repairing the Dark Moon in the process.

  • misterwolf However, the Grand Star's power drains, and Meggy is reverted back to her regular form. She is forced to fight a vengeful King Boo, eventually gaining the upper hand and destroying him, before collapsing and falling off of McCloud's ship; however, she is saved at the last minute by Yoshi, now a spirit warrior with wings, who carries her back on top of the ship and bids her farewell before flying away to the Heavens.

  • misterwolf The next morning at their beach house, Meggy happily cooks breakfast with Marie and Callie, and silently acknowledges that Yoshi will return should she need him. Before the end credits roll, a squid village is shown, and the leader of the village says "My daughters live", thus revealing that the sisters' mother is still alive.
