The TARDIS was diverted to the Nadir Motorway Service Station in 1974, where the pair encountered a singing double-act called the Tomorrow Twins. They were held captive within the service station by super-beings known as the Only Ones however they were defeated & trapped within Sally's MP3 player.

The Doctor and Sally landed inside Sanctuary Base 6 on Krop Tor, a planet that was in perpetual orbit around the black hole K37 Gem 5, and lost the TARDIS following an earthquake. The crew of Sanctuary Base 6, having come to Krop Tor to discover the source of power emanating from the planet's core which allowed the planet to orbit the black hole, refused to divert their drill to collect the TARDIS. The Beast began terrorising the explorers and possessing their servants, the Ood. The Doctor and the science officer of Sanctuary Base 6, Ida Scott, descended into the core of the planet and discovered a pit which had started opening.

Time is running out for the Doctor. The Rani & the Cybermen have began their invasion of Earth. Human kind will fall to the Cybermen and the Rani will be victorious. However, her victory is short lived, as the Cybermen end up betraying her.

The TARDIS is in flight when all of a sudden, everything stops. The lights go out, the console doesn't respond, the TARDIS is dead. The only way to fix this is to travel to the TARDIS's heart & restart the power. As the Trio head down multiple corridors, the Doctor soon finds himself lost & alone.
