Uglies
The series takes place at least three hundred years in the future after the nature-killing Rusty civilization was destroyed. The survivors of the Rusty Crash agreed that the planet must never be wrecked again. Studying the "halo-effect" where attractive people seem to be treated better, are happier, and are more successful, they created a system where everyone at the age of sixteen is given the Pretty Operation, making them all super-beautiful. To make people unlikely to question the need for a completely different face and body, they conditioned everyone between the ages of twelve and sixteen to believe that they are "ugly". Tally Youngblood is an Ugly who wants nothing more than to become Pretty and join her best friend Peris in New Pretty Town. But when she meets Shay, a girl who doesn't want to become Pretty, Tally's life becomes complicated. Tally initially disregards her friend's assertion as something that a crazy Ugly would do, and that, of course, she'll turn Pretty. As Shay and Tally share a birthday, Tally is excited that they'll never be separated due to the operation. Shay tries to convince her new friend into running away with her to the mysterious Smoke, a community hidden in the wild, but Tally refuses. Shay leaves anyway but gives Tally a note handwritten (to Tally's surprise, as in this world people don't write by hand) with cryptic and often confusing directions on how to make it to the Smoke.

Ugly Love
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her. Never ask about the past. Don’t expect a future. They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all. Hearts get infiltrated. Promises get broken. Rules get shattered. Love gets ugly.

It Ends With Us
Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most. Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true. Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

Jon's upbringing is under the watchful eye of Jon Connington, a loyal bannerman to the Targaryens, who teaches him the art of war and the intricacies of court politics. However, navigating the treacherous waters of the Red Keep becomes all the more complicated with the presence of his stepmother, Cersei Lannister. Cersei’s ambition and cunning add a layer of complexity to Jon’s life, as she sees him both as a potential threat to her own children and a pawn to secure her family's power.

After her mother was murdered by a yellow-haired warrior and her family's house on the island of Shalott was burned to ashes, the 8-year-old Elaine of Ascolat goes to live with her two brothers, Lavain and Tirry, and her father in a British army encampment. She quickly makes friends with many of the camp's occupants, including Arthur, Lancelot, Tristan, and Gawain. Over the years Elaine grows into a beautiful 16-year-old girl and performs all of the menial, household tasks and healing for the camp's soldiers. She also falls in love with her childhood playmate Lancelot, who has become Arthur's right-hand man – a position made even more important after Arthur is forced to assume leadership after the camp's leader Aurelius is poisoned. Many of the other leaders resent Arthur's youth despite his experience and some leave the camp. The night that Arthur is proclaimed leader, Lancelot tells Elaine that he will be sent to win over Lodengrance because he will be needed at Arthur's round table. Arthur is then given his title by the Merlin, Taliesin.
