The Evans family reside in Apartment 17C of the Cabrini-Green housing projects. The neighborhood is tougher now—the cracks in the system are wider, and the "War on Drugs" has left scars—but the vibrant community spirit remains. Despite the grim prognosis, Gehrig addresses the crowd and famously declares himself to be "the luckiest man on the face of the earth" for the friends, family, and career he had, leaving behind a lasting legacy of courage and dignity in the face of insurmountable odds.
