Orville Willis Forte IVย (/หfษหrteษช/ย FOR-tay; born June 17, 1970) is an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer. He was a cast member and writer on theย NBCย sketch comedyย seriesย Saturday Night Liveย for eight seasons from 2002 to 2010. During his time on the show, he played a recurring character that led to a feature film adaptation,ย MacGruberย (2010), and a streamingย limited series in 2021. Forte also created and starred in the sitcomย The Last Man on Earthย (2015โ2018). He received threeย Primetime Emmy Awardย nominations for the series: two forย actingย and one forย writing.
After obtaining a history degree from theย University of California, Los Angelesย and becoming a financial broker like his father, Forte changed his career path to comedy and took classes with the improv groupย The Groundlings. Before joining Saturday Night Live, he worked as a writer and producer onย 3rd Rock from the Sun andย That '70s Show. Forte played various roles in comedy before starring in the drama filmย Nebraskaย (2013).
