Seth Aaron Rogen (born April 15, 1982) is a Canadian actor, comedian, and filmmaker. Known primarily for his comedicΒ leading manΒ roles in films, the accolades he has received include nominations for threeΒ Golden Globe Awards, fiveΒ Primetime Emmy Awards, aΒ Screen Actors Guild Award, and anΒ Independent Spirit Award.
Originally aΒ stand-up comedianΒ in Vancouver, Rogen moved to Los Angeles for a part inΒ Judd Apatow's seriesΒ Freaks and GeeksΒ in 1999 and got a part in Apatow's sitcomΒ UndeclaredΒ in 2001, which also hired him as a writer. Rogen landed a job as a staff writer on the final season ofΒ Da Ali G ShowΒ (2004), for which the writing team was nominated for aΒ Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. Apatow subsequently guided him toward a film career.
His first movie appearance was a minor role inΒ Donnie DarkoΒ (2001), and he had a supporting part in Apatow's directorial debut,Β The 40-Year-Old VirginΒ (2005), which he co-produced.
