Robert Anthony De NiroΒ (born August 17, 1943) is an American actor and film producer. Considered one of his generation's greatest and most influential actors, De Niro has receivedΒ various accolades, including twoΒ Academy AwardsΒ and aΒ Β Golden Globe Award, as well as nominations for eightΒ BAFTA AwardsΒ and fourΒ Emmy Awards. He was honoured with theΒ AFI Life Achievement AwardΒ in 2003, theΒ Kennedy Center HonorsΒ in 2009, theΒ Cecil B. DeMille AwardΒ in 2011, and theΒ Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement AwardΒ in 2019. De Niro was presented with theΒ Presidential Medal of FreedomΒ by U.S. PresidentΒ Barack ObamaΒ in 2016.

De Niro and producerΒ Jane RosenthalΒ founded the film and television production companyΒ TriBeCa ProductionsΒ in 1989, which has produced several films alongside his own. Also with Rosenthal, he founded theΒ Tribeca Film FestivalΒ in 2002. Many of De Niro's films are considered classics of American cinema. Six of De Niro's films have been inducted into theΒ United States National Film RegistryΒ by theΒ Library of CongressΒ as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" as of 2023.
