Mike FlanaganΒ (born May 20, 1978) is an American filmmaker best known for hisΒ horror work. Flanagan wrote, directed, produced, and edited the horror filmsΒ AbsentiaΒ (2011),Β Oculus (2013),Β Hush,Β Before I Wake,Β Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016),Β Gerald's GameΒ (2017), andΒ Doctor SleepΒ (2019). He created, wrote, produced, and served as showrunner on theΒ NetflixΒ horror seriesΒ The Haunting of Hill HouseΒ (2018),Β The Haunting of Bly ManorΒ (2020),Β Midnight MassΒ (2021),Β The Midnight Club (2022), andΒ The Fall of the House of UsherΒ (2023), also directing and editing some if not all episodes of each.
Flanagan is married to actressΒ Kate Siegel, who has been featured in most of his works sinceΒ Oculus. They also wrote the screenplay ofΒ Hushtogether.
