Madame Web (Julia Carpenter)

Julia Carpenter (née Cornwall), also known as Spider-Woman, is a woman of many talents encompassing roles as a mother, a government agent, and superhero. Born and raised in LA, Julia's life took a turn when she married Larry Carpenter and had a daughter named Rachel.[12] However, her marriage ended in divorce, leading Julia to focus on raising her daughter alone.[13] She gained her powers through a government experiment, where they "accidentally" injected Julia with a serum made from a mix of spider venom and exotic plant extracts, which gave Julia powers very similar to those of Spider-Man.[14] She found herself embroiled in superhero conflicts such as the Secret Wars[15] and membership in teams like Freedom Force[16] and Iron Man's Force Works.[17] She faced off against adversaries like Death-Web[18] and encountered personal challenges, including the loss of her powers[19] and subsequent paralysis. Gaining her powers again she took the new moniker Arachne.[20] During the Superhuman Civil War, Julia operated as a double agent, conflicted between her allegiance to the government and her personal convictions,[21] leading to her incarceration and subsequent escape.[22] She later joined Omega Flight, aiding the Canadian government in superhero operations.[23] Her journey continued through encounters with formidable foes during the Grim Hunt[24] and involvement in events such as the Clone Conspiracy.[25] After the death of original Madame Web she assumed the mantle of Madame Web herself, inheriting her blindness and precognitive abilities.[24] Julia's path intertwined with significant moments in the superhero community, including her role in the Order of the Web and confrontations with entities like Kindred.[26]
