Biography

Laya Aiesha Lewis is a British actress and voice over artist. Born in South London but raised in Bristol, Laya got her start in acting at the age of 18 when she was cast as rebellious, provocative, and fun-loving party animal Olivia "Liv" Malone in the fifth and sixth series of the E4 drama 'Skins'. Since 'Skins', Lewis has continued working in film and television. Her second most notable project being her titular, lead role in the biographical short film 'Beverley' which earned Laya several Best Actress awards, as well as a BBC award for Best Emerging Talent at the 2016 BUFF Awards. Laya also starred in the music video for Emeli Sandé's 2012 single, "My Kind of Love". In April 2023, Laya made her theatrical debut as Ruth in the stage play 'Unseen Unheard: The Untold Breast Cancer Stories of Black Women in the UK''. As of now, Laya mostly does commercial and voice over work, even lending her voice for the indents for Radio 1 Breakfast and the documentary 'Gay Under the Taliban' (2022). Laya is of mixed English and Jamaican descent and has been openly queer since coming out in a Buzzfeed article that was published in 2015. She currently resides in London.
