John Gavin Malkovich (born December 9, 1953)Β is an American actor. He has received several accolades, including aΒ Primetime Emmy Award and nominations for twoΒ Academy Awards, aΒ BAFTA Award, twoΒ Screen Actors Guild Awards, and threeΒ Golden Globe Awards.
Malkovich started his career as a charter member of theΒ Steppenwolf Theatre CompanyΒ in Chicago in 1976.Β He moved to New York City, acting in a Steppenwolf production of theΒ Sam ShepardΒ playΒ True WestΒ (1980). He made hisΒ BroadwayΒ debut as Biff in the revival of theΒ Arthur MillerΒ playΒ Death of a SalesmanΒ (1984).
