Biography

Asakura Hao (麻倉ハオ 4Kids: "Zeke Asakura") is the main villain in the Shaman King manga and anime series. Born as Asaha Doji (麻葉童子 Asaha Dōji),[2] he rose to prominence as an onmyōji during Japan's Heian period, and after receiving the name Asakura Hao (麻倉葉王), he founded the Asakura Family. He competed in the Shaman Fight of AD 1000, but failed to win. When he threatened to destroy humans and establish a shaman empire, the Family fought against him and successfully killed him.[3] In control of his own reincarnation, Hao chose to be reborn 500 years later in the Patch Tribe, so that he could steal the Spirit of Fire, one of the Five Grand Elemental Spirits.[4] During the Shaman Fight of AD 1500, Hao was killed by Asakura Yohken, his descendant, and Matamune, his former Guardian Ghost.[5] During his third life, he was reborn as the twin brother of his descendant Asakura Yoh.[6] The most powerful shaman in the Shaman Fight of AD 2000, he succeeds in winning the competition and is the current Shaman King.[7]
