F. Murray Abrahamย (bornย Murray Abraham; October 24, 1939) is an American actor. Known for hisย roles on stage and screen, he has received anย Academy Awardย and aย Golden Globe Awardย as well as nominations for aย BAFTA Award, fourย Emmy Awards, and aย Grammy Award. He became famous for portrayingย Antonio Salieriย in the drama filmย Amadeus (1984), for which he won anย Academy Award for Best Actor.
Abraham debuted on Broadway in the 1968 playย The Man in the Glass Booth. He received theย Obie Award for Outstanding Performanceย for his roles inย Anton Chekhov'sย Uncle Vanyaย (1984) andย William Shakespeare'sย The Merchant of Veniceย (2011). He returned to Broadway in the revival ofย Terrence McNally's comedyย It's Only a Playย (2014), receiving aย Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Playย nomination.
He has appeared in many roles, both leading and supporting, in films such asย All the President's Menย (1976),ย Scarfaceย (1983),ย The Name of the Roseย (1986),ย Last Action Heroย (1993),ย Mighty Aphroditeย (1995),ย Dillinger and Caponeย (1995),ย Star Trek: Insurrectionย (1998),ย Finding Forrester (2000),ย Inside Llewyn Davisย (2013),ย The Grand Budapest Hotelย (2014),ย Isle of Dogsย (2018) andย How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019).
He was a regular cast member on theย Showtimeย drama seriesย Homelandย (2012โ2018), which earned him twoย nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. He also acted inย Louieย (2011โ2014),ย Mythic Questย (2020โ2021),ย Moon Knight (2022) andย The White Lotusย (2022), with the latter earning him nominations for theย Golden Globe Awardย and theย Primetime Emmy Award.
