Biography
Steve Englehart's run on Captain America spanning from issues 153 to 167 and 169 to 186 after replacing Gerry Conway. Sal Buscema is the penciler for issues 153 to 163, 165 to 167, 169 to 181, and 185. Issue 164 is co-written with Alan Weiss, who also penciled with John Romita. Issues 182, 183, and 186 were penciled by Frank Robbins, and issue 184 was penciled by Herb Trimpe. Issue 186 was co-written with John Warner, who replaced Englehart. Captain America was accompanied by Falcon in every issue, as well as by Redwing, and was allied with Peggy Carter, Falcon's love interest Leila Taylor, S.H.I.E.L.D. (notably Nick Fury, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Dum-Dum Dugan, and Sharon Carter), and Gabe Jones. The duo also joins forces with Black Panther and the X-Men and their enemies included the Captain America and Bucky of the 1950's, Crime Wave, the activist Rafe Michel and his gang the Silver Skulls, Doctor Faustus, the Serpent Squad, Yellow Claw, the Secret Empire, Lucifer and the Quists, the Golden Archer, Boss Morgan, and the Red Skull. Nightshade, Roxxon Oil (including Hugh Jones) and Gamecock are also introduced. Steve Rogers temporarily abandoned the title of Captain America in issue 176 and became Nomad in issue 180, allowing civilians such as Roscoe to use it. After Roscoe's death in issue 183, Steve Rogers chose to become Captain America again.
