Angela Maria (13 May 1929 – 29 September 2018), the stage name of Abelim Maria da Cunha, was a Brazilian singer and actress. She was elected "Queen of the Radio" in 1954 and was considered the most popular singer of that decade in Brazil. Performer of songs such as Babalu (Margarita Lecuona), Gente Humilde (Garoto/Chico Buarque/Vinicius de Moraes), Cinderela (Adelino Moreira) and Orgulho (Waldir Rocha/Nelson Wederkind), served as a source of inspiration for artists such as Elis Regina, Djavan , Milton Nascimento, Ney Matogrosso, Cesária Évora and Gal Costa, in addition to being, proven by Ibope, for a long period, the most popular singer in Brazil and gaining the admiration of personalities such as Édith Piaf, Getúlio Vargas, Juscelino Kubitschek, Amália Rodrigues and Louis Armstrong.
