Synopsis

The events of Rise Of The Marauders have left the X-Men in a weakened state with several key members on the shelf (Beast, Marvel Girl, Nightcrawler & Iceman). As they try to regroup and reassess, Bolivar Trask - haunted by his son's visions - sets a plan into motion that will ensure that the age of mutant tyranny never comes to pass. Meanwhile, ironically, Magneto may very well have secured the means to make that very thing a reality....

  • marcusellison In the movie’s climax as the X-Men are squaring off with The Human Council & the Sentinels, Cable’s mission; alongside Rogue, Forge, Domino & Fantomex, to eliminate Apocalypse before he awakens comes to fruition. Despite a valiant effort, Cable isn’t able to finish the job before Apocalypse’s pod opens forcing them to retreat. In the midst of the main battle, a surge of malevolent energy stops everyone in their tracks and Apocalypse descends upon the battlefield. Trask, terrified by the mutant from his son’s visions standing there on the screen, orders his team to attack only to watch them be vaporized immediately. The X-Men go to attack but Apocalypse halts them telekinetically and implores them to get stronger in order to challenge him before returning to Magneto & The Brotherhood on Krakoa. The X-Men stand flummoxed & horrified on the battlefield, uncertain of how to proceed when Trask reaches out to Charles and proposes an uneasy alliance. In the mid credit scene Daken, having snuck on to Krakoa, appears before Magneto and says “My name is Daken and I’ve come to kill the Wolverine”. In the post credit scene Apocalypse appears before a sleeping Cain Marko and says “It’s time for you to awaken your true potential Mr. Marko”; Cain begins to grin as the screen cuts to black.
