1 comment on X-Men: Age Of Apocalypse Pt 2

  • marcusellison In the movie’s climax - while mutants the world over fight Apocalypse’s forces - the unified front of the X-Men, some members of The Brotherhood & the Morlocks devise a plan built around Bishop’s mutant ability to absorb energy, Mr. Sinister’s subterfuge and the combined telekinetic powers of Cable & Jean Grey to end Apocalypse. While Magneto, Jean, Cable, Bishop & Bastion rendezvous with Mr. Sinister; the rest of the unified front, lead by Cyclops, fight a mass battle with Apocalypse’s forces on Krakoa. In the midst of the battle Cyclops, Gambit, Wolverine & Mystique try to fend off Havok, Rogue, Daken & Nightcrawler until they can be freed of Apocalypse’s hold on them. The battle is perilous and with Apocalypse on the verge of victory, Magneto makes a sacrificial move that takes Apocalypse off of his game long enough for Bishop, Cable & Jean to collectively kill Apocalypse; who with his dying breath congratulates them for “ascending”. With the tides officially turned, the remaining mutants aligned with Apocalypse either surrender or flee, thus ending the “Age of Apocalypse”. Days after the battle, the remaining members of the X-Men & The Brotherhood return to Krakoa to hold a funeral for Magneto, Charles & Mystique and try to plot a course forward. Months later Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Storm & Emma Frost appear in front of a council of government officials alongside Bolivar Trask to appeal for mutant autonomy and a chair within the council. As the council meeting is in session, Jean exits and runs to the bathroom in pain; once inside she looks at herself in the mirror and her eyes are engulfed in flames as a distorted voice says “No more running child, your destiny lies within the stars!”. In the post credit scene an alien ship enters the Earth’s atmosphere and within the cockpit, 3 figures to the window and proclaim that “It’s time”.
