Instead, in an alternate 1989, in a last-ditch effort to save itself, the Soviet Union thunders over the Fulda Gap sparking World War 3. After making rapid gains in Western Europe, the Soviets falter after a concentrated push by NATO forces grinds the war down to a stalemate.
