Thomas, Daisy and Emily are sleeping soundly when the morning whistle blows and the day begins. As Thomas and Emily set off, James runs through his morning routine before joining his friends. Meeting at Knapford, the three are given their jobs by Murdoch; they have to take a load of nine tankers to Wayland, each engine taking one of the Freight Cars.
