  • misterwolf Plot: Comic book enthusiast and superhero fan Darcy O'Connor writes her diary, narrating that long ago, a hero named The Overseer and her arch nemesis and twin sister, The Banshee, were both declared missing; many believe that they died, while some, namely Darcy, believe that The Overseer lives.
  • misterwolf One day, Darcy is beaten by a small group of her female classmates. When she heads home, her neighbor Vivian Alvarez asks her not to go inside yet so that she can examine her injuries; when Darcy tells her about her beaters, she decides to take her to school tomorrow morning, much to the dismay of Marcus, Darcy's abusive father, though Tiffany, Darcy's mother, approves of it and also shares her daughter's belief that The Overseer lives. The next day, Vivian teaches Darcy how to defend herself; she advises her that fighting a boy will be harder, but it should not matter as the girls are the ones giving her trouble. They begin to form a sister-like bond, with Darcy noting how brave Vivian is.
  • misterwolf Meanwhile, an unseen assailant kills Darcy's godfather Richard Warren and kidnaps Tiffany, and also destroys the mask of The Overseer, while Vivian feels chest pain at the same time, indicating that she felt the mask get destroyed. Darcy ends up living with Vivian after Marcus also goes missing. A few hours after falling asleep, Darcy is awoken by an explosive punch coming from the basement; upon entering it, she finds Vivian practicing to prepare to rescue Tiffany. Vivian reveals to her that she is a superhuman, and when Darcy asks if she is The Overseer or The Banshee, Vivian replies "Honestly, kid, I don't even know anymore."
  • misterwolf Darcy is then kidnapped by the same assailant, forcing Vivian to equip the Overseer outfit, albeit missing the mask that was destroyed. Her housekeeper, Harold Connolly, provides her the location of Tiffany, whom Vivian rescues. She reveals to Vivian that Marcus was behind everything as a means to stage The Overseer out of hiding, thus causing her to realize that he murdered her sister.
  • misterwolf Confronting Marcus at an abandoned warehouse, Vivian is easily defeated when she receives flashbacks of her fighting her sister. Marcus then tells her "Prepare to watch as I kill my own daughter, hero!"; however, Vivian says she is not a hero, and instead tells him "I'm the villain!", indicating that he not only killed the wrong sister, but that her sister, Sierra, was actually The Overseer.
  • misterwolf Marcus then dons Vivian's old persona, The Banshee, and equips an armor he made himself with a mask identical to the one that she wore. He overpowers Vivian, but before he can kill Darcy after she breaks free and throws a pipeline at him, Vivian regains her strength and beheads Marcus before carrying Darcy from the flames of the warehouse just as it collapses.
  • misterwolf In the aftermath, Vivian decides take on her sister's persona of The Overseer, which Darcy happily supports. Tiffany allows Darcy to live with Vivian, knowing that she will be safer with her; before the end credits roll, a mysterious villain wearing Marcus' suit and mask emerges with the latter's decapitated head, indicating that Vivian's work is far from over.
