Synopsis

It’s Oscar night in Hollywood and among the attendees is none other than oddball character actor turned amateur detective Sammy Lucas – here to present the award for Best Original Screenplay. Lucas was hoping to spend the night meeting his filmmaking heroes, but when the host turns up dead backstage(!), Sammy is not only tasked with catching the culprit, but in order to not derail the festivities he must also step in as host and keep the show going!

Description of Clem Schafer (The Editor):

One of the nominees for Best Editing, Schafer clashed with Brion Collins regularly during post-production. Collins reportedly fought for a 3-and-a-half-hour version of his film, while Schafer managed to bring it down to 2 hours and 15 minutes. Critics praised the pace of the final product, though Collins insists that a “director’s cut” is coming. At a crucial moment during the investigation, the power goes out, the backstage is pitch black, and Schafer later is found with an axe lodged on his shoulder…
