After the death of his wife in a car accident, Frank Bannister gained the ability to see and communicate with the spirits who linger on Earth. At first, he only uses this ability to con the people of the tiny town of Fairwater-- until an emanation disguised as the Grim Reaper begins killing off and implicating him in the murders. With the assistance of the recently widowed Lucy Lynskey, Frank works to discover the identity of this ghost, clear his name, and keep Fairwater safe.
