  • misterwolf Plot: As a skull-like ship attacks the planet Krypton and prepares to destroy it, widowed scientist Jor-El reluctantly puts his infant son in a small ship, not wanting to see him die with him. He powers the ship with a green activation crystal, and before saying goodbye to his son, he names him Kal, son of El. The ship takes off, successfully escaping just moments before Krypton explodes.

  • misterwolf The ship lands on the planet Earth in Smallville, and Kal is found by two kindly farmers, Martha and Jonathan Kent. They adopt Kal and name him Clark; ten years later, Jonathan hesitantly reveals to Kal that he is not from Earth, due to his powers and abilities. He assures Kal that he loves him, and complements that he was sent to Earth "for a reason."

  • misterwolf Another ten years pass, and Kal is now 20 Earth years old. One day, returning from work, he finds Jonathan dead in the barn of the family's property, and when he discovers no wounds, he realizes he died of a heart attack. After Jonathan's funeral, a grief-stricken Kal is encouraged by Martha to find out who he was before arriving on Earth. He sets out to Antarctica, and throws the green activation crystal that was inserted into the ship he was in.

  • misterwolf The crystal activates the Fortress of Solitude, and when Kal enters it, he encounters the consciousness of Jor-El. He explains that he is one of three survivors of Krypton; one of those survivors is imprisoned in the Phantom Zone for war crimes. When Kal tells Jor-El that Jonathan told him he was sent to earth "for a reason", Jor-El confirms this by saying that not only did he not want his son to die with him, but that he wanted him to become a hero to Earth.

  • misterwolf Jor-El gives Kal a blue suit with a red cape and boots, as well as a symbol representing hope. When Kal eventually completes his flying sessions, Jor-El discovers that a Kryptonian zombie named Bizarro has arrived on Earth, wearing a similar suit to Kal with the exception of the symbol, which is upside down. Kal gives himself the name of Superman before flying off and arriving in Metropolis. He fights Bizarro, but is easily overpowered and defeated; he is saved at the last minute by the military and brought to colonel James O'Donnell. Kal explains to O'Donnell that his father sent him to Earth as an infant to become a hero. O'Donnell agrees to help him when he realizes that Bizarro threatens the planet.

  • misterwolf Kal visits Martha, who tells him that Jonathan would be extremely proud of him. Encouraged, Kal bids her farewell before setting out for Metropolis, which is still under attack by Bizarro. The military arrives, and a lengthy fight ensues, destroying much of Metropolis; O'Donnell sacrifices himself to save Kal when Bizarro is about to kill him. The Daily Planet's editor-in-chief Perry White and his assistant Maria Lane are almost killed in an explosion, but Superman, still fighting Bizarro, saves them before continuing the battle in Space. A weary Bizarro refuses to surrender, but Kal, who has gained the upper hand, defeats him and delivers an extremely powerful punch, launching him towards the Sun; he then kicks Bizarro into the Sun's orbit, killing him and saving Earth.

  • misterwolf Metropolis honors Kal as a hero, even building a statue of him holding Earth above his head. He and Martha later visit Jonathan's grave, and they both acknowledge that he would think that the people of Earth would finally be ready. Three years later, now in 2025, Kal, under the name Clark Kent, is interviewed in the Daily Planet by Perry, who hires him as a journalist. A mysterious man named John Constantine, who is working with Bruce Wayne, briefly watches the interview before disappearing into the crowd as the end credits roll.
