Kal-El is sent to earth in a pod by his parents in order to escape Krypton's destruction, caused by an attack by General Zod. Zod is imprisoned in the Phantom Zone and Krypton explodes. Kal-El lands in Smallville and is raised by the Jonathan and Martha Kent as Clark, learning that he must hide his powers to protect people. Clark gets a job as a reporter at the Daily Planet. He is told to investigate a recent attack in a nearby city with Lois Lane. Martha recognises the symbol on Zod's outfit from the pod Clark landed in. She shows him the pod and he sees a hologram of his father explaining his heritage. Meanwhile, Zod attacks Metropolis, looking for Kal-El. Clark changes into a Kryptonian suit and battles Zod and Faora. They are imprisoned by the Military and Clark opens a portal to send them back to the Phantom Zone. Clark adopts the superhero name Superman and promises to protect Earth from any intergalactic threats. End Credits Scene: Lex Luthor vows revenge for his father's death at the hands of Zod's attack.
