Synopsis

Shiroyasha will once again, finally face against his worthy opponent, an immortal being known as Utsuro, currently possessing the body of Gintoki's old comrade, Takasugi Shinsaku. As the white haired samurai and the mysterious immortal being clashed each other in the middle of the Boshin War, while the others face against their own rivals. Unfortunately, defeat for the Shinsengumi came swiftly at the hands of the Imperial Army, and retreated back to Edo in shame. It was a bittersweet homecoming for the warriors of the Shinsengumi, as the city of Edo resembled very little of its former self, engulfed by the harrowing winds of change that were sweeping through the country. As the Shinsengumi's survival came under threat, they were faced with a choice: discard their principals, or give up their lives. Some of them had no choice, and they cloaked themselves in darkness to protect the Shinsengumi's greatest secret: the Rasetsu. This story is about a samurai who looks for a true meaning in his whole life along with an individual group of samurai who allies with the warriors of the Shinsengumi, who are struggling to uphold their faith in an era of rapid social change in Japan, and the fate of those who sought to resist that change

Description of Banjiro Jonouchi:

Jonouchi and Zenzou begin to feel uncomfortable with Ishii's aspirations to become daimyou and eventually leave the Shinsengumi. Near the end, Jonouchi reappears on the battlefield, fighting numerous amounts of fiends, teaming up once again with Zenzou to defeat Kōjuro and his Rasetsu army, and is gravely wounded in the ensuing battle. He is last seen having a brief, quiet conversation with Zenzou while leaning against a tree, his hands placed over his wound, and his eyes losing their usual glint. His ultimate fate is left unclear, but it is said that after the Boshin War, he flees to China.
