• theonewithda_gun Koichi: while charging on horseback Koichi is shot by a direct enemy bullet. Carrying him away, Chidori tries to heal him with her blood. Seeing this, he says no man wants to see the woman he loves suffer, but she replies that she can not bear to see him in pain either. As they come across a beautiful cherry blossom tree, Koichi comments that sakura blossoms suit her. Chidori smiles and states that she always thinks they suit him even more. Arakaki appears and Koichi duels the demon for the last time, saying he has someone he must protect. They fight for an amount of time, woth Arakaki keep getting up after several attempts of taking him down, this is due to him becoming stronger because he drank a modified version of the ochimizu. Josuke comes to Koichi's aid and then both of them teams up to defeat Arakaki. Still, their efforts are useless as Arakaki heals and tries to kill Josuke. But Koichi shields Josuke and gets stabbed by Arakaki as a result. During the fight between Josuke and Arakaki, Josuke was at first overpowered by Arakaki. But a mortally wounded Koichi stands up and stabs Arakaki in the heart, weakening him and leave him open to Josuke's attacks, before falling on his knees weakened and staring contentedly at the cherry blossoms. He is then seen unconscious on Chidori's lap. At the end of the season, she has a vision of all the dead members of the Shinsengumi where Koichi joins them. But whether he truly dies is left rather ambiguous and open to personal interpretation.

• theonewithda_gun Takakura: he is later seen in the castle where Chidori was held captive. Finding out that Yamanami had indeed joined forces with Katsura, but Yamanami killed a Rasetsu soldier revealing that he had not joined forces with Katsura after all. Koichi, Tetsuya, and Yamanami defeated all the Rasetsu soldiers in the castle, with Takakura having a one on one battle against Katsura, who has drink a modified ochimizu and transformed into a third stage Rasetsu, almost becoming a Majin. Takakura executes a finishing blow on Katsura, but Katsura laughs as he says that he can't die and will soon turn into a majin. But Takakura then insults him, saying that Katsura was an idiot. Because drinking the ochimizu and transforming into a third stage rasetsu didn't give Katsura more power, doing so only making his disease more worse as the ochimizu can only heal physical injuries. Takakura declares that he has won the fight and that Katsura will die an agonizing death within several years. The fight ended, but Takakura and Yamanami had used up their lifespan, holding Koichi's hand and Chidori resting hers on top of his, Takakura asks Chidori to look after Koichi, like how everyone else had before him, and dies with a smile on his face as he and Yamanami disintegrated to ashes.

• theonewithda_gun Fūma: goes to the Shinsengumi HQ along with his fiend clones and the Tengu Brothers without Takasugi's authorization and begins killing all of the Shinsengumi operatives. He encounters Saya, but Tetsuya and Kentaro distracted him and his cronies long enough for Saya to escape. Fūma and his cronies escapes and manages to wound Kentaro in a fight due to the latter began showing symptoms of tuberculosis. Later on, he brings his fiend clones and some of his cronies to ambush and kill Saya after being outraged when Arakaki was given the orders to kill Saya instead of him and went after her while she was separated from Koichi and the other Shinsengumi members.
