ahmetyesilormanAngelina Jolie is a terrific actress but she has nothing in common with Maria Callas in physical aspects. Of course she can deliver a great performance under heavy plastic make up as she did in her "Maleficient" movies. But is this really necessary?... Even Noomie Rapace was a better choice for casting than Angelina Jolie however I guess that project has flopped. I hope this project with Jolie also flops because both the director and screen writer of "Jackie" and "Spencer" were so mediocre. Both films looked like cheap reenactments made for TV. Callas deserves more than mediocre writing and directing.

@ahmetyesilorman Jolie is definitely unable to show the facial expressions required for such a great performer like Callas. Heavy make up over plastic surgery and botox would make her look like a statue. I think they casted her for her "star power" however Winslet can double that power, would look amazing as Maria..

@stargazer I really didn't want to talk about that "very personal issue of having botocs or plastic surgeries" but yeah, facial expressions is the key element for Maria Callas on stage. She is not just the voice, she is also the face of her art. Anyone can see that by watching one video of her on stage. I don't think Jolie could do justice to that... sorry. I really like Angelina Jolie btw. but this is not cut for her.
ahmetyesilormanI think Pablo Larrain's aim for making this Maria Callas movie is to get into the upper league of directors, just like he tried with both "Jackie" then "Spencer". Both were like TV reenactments and so boring and mediocre to watch in a movie theatre. I think Larrain is trying to create a title for himself as ultimate biopic director of Hollywood. But unfortunately I believe Callas' story would be wasted in his hands. I am %100 certain that the costumes, the locations and even the score would fit in perfectly however there wont be a soul in that movie just the previous two mentioned. I watched both Jackie and Spencer and although I like both actresses so much, they were not the best choices for either of the roles and they couldnt manage to move me in any scene. You can check the IMDB scores and comments for both biopics and see how average they look. Sorry but Callas deserves more. Definitely a big NO for Larrain from me.

@stargazer Woah! excuse me :) Noone says P. Larrain is talentless. He has done enough to prove himself but maybe he is looking for safety of a higher level in directing.
ahmetyesilormanSteven Knight is a famous "TV" screenwriter and producer. He has a few notable big screen works however his profession lies within the boundaries of the TV. I think it would be a very bad decision for handing over a project destined to win an Oscar to someone like Mr. Knight with all respect. You may check how dull his IMDB scores are as a movie screen writer. TV and movies are two different mediums and very few of the crossovers of some very talented directors and screen writers do actually serve the purpose. Neither Pablo Larrain nor Steven Knight are such talents obviously. If this project will come to life, you will see how it will flop at the box-office just like Jackie and Spencer did. Maria Callas deserves a better biopic than becoming an "i did it" moment of some second rate movie-makers. .

@ahmetyesilorman I personally liked some of Knight's works but Spencer was a no no for me. I completely agree that Knight should do TV screenplays instead.

@stargazer Most of my friends who watched both of those movies actually said that they really got bored and tried really hard to finish what they started... So I agree with you %100
youtubegamerCan anyone here suggest actors/actresses/roles for my stories?, I should be turning them into a reality one day, so I need help with the cast
