Kelly Hollister (Emma Stone) has never had a great relationship with Hugh (Patrick Wilson). In high school, he had done something horrible that Kelly still holds against him. And it doesn't help that he ends up as her boss when she joins a revolutionary tech firm as his secretary, of all things! But everything changes when the earth is captured by aliens. The aliens, noting their tech firm's potential, orders everyone to a laser tag match to the death; the last two people alive will be able to survive and live a happy life among the aliens.
