Although he looks like a fun, adorable little guy who loves chocolate chips (his namesake) on his sundae, Chip has a secret that he never knew until later. Thousands of years ago, there was a battle between light and darkness. Light Gaia and Dark Gaia. Light Gaia protected the planet from the infectious effects of Dark Gaia that would make the planet almost inhabitable. Light Gaia used his energy to send Dark Gaia to the center of Mobius, but lost his memory and went into a coma afterwards. It wasn't until Sonic's battle with Eggman that released Dark Gaia when Light Gaia woke up with no memory at all. Sadly, at the end, he'll have to ascend to ensure Mobius' survival.
