“My impression what Spider-Man could be is very different from what Sam did or what Sam wanted to do. I think the reason he directed that movie was because he wanted to do the Marvel comic superhero. I was never interested in the genesis story. I couldn't get past a guy getting bit by a red and blue spider. It was just a problem… It was not something that I felt I could do straight-faced. nathanbates If you’ll allow me to spam this further and since I’m just buzzing about Spider-Man at the moment, suggestions for the sequel (David Fincher’s The Web of Spider-Man): Stellan Skarsgard as Doctor Octopus, Rooney Mara as Black Cat, Holt McCallany as The Sandman, Rashida Jones as Betty Brant, Reg E. Cathy as Robbie Robertson… and Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio!

lorogoman If I were to do this in 2012, I would cast Jesse Eisenberg as Spider-Man instead of Andrew Garfield so it would feel different.

nathanbates @jacerodriguez21 I get that but it’s harder to imagine Eisenberg being a compelling Peter Parker than it is to imagine Garfield as a compelling Harry Osborn.
