In the near-future, breakthrough after breakthrough in the world of medicine have been made, this remake is centered on a young government official who agrees to undergo an experimental treatment that may help her control her seizures for good. A chip is placed in the back of her skull and she receives an unexpected benefit; the benefit being that the chip makes her one of the most intelligent women in the entire country. However, the chip soon malfunctions causing her to have bizarre hallucinations in which she sees a young girl being violated almost non-stop. The girl calls the woman out by name, except a few problems. The woman does not know who this girl is. How does the girl know her name? Who is this girl? Where did this girl came from? The original film received mixed reviews and was a surprise flop for Universal Pictures, but has achieved cult status over the course of time.
