After being forced into exile on the eastern continent by his king and brother Rhaegar I, Prince Viserys Targaryen again undermined the crown by kidnapping his sister Daenerys. As well as having the support of the Golden Company, he forced his younger sister to marry Khal Drogo in order to increase the number of his allies and obtain an army capable of rivalling that of his brother Rhaegar. This plan was thwarted a few moons later, when Daenerys's dragon found her and burnt the khalasar. The inferno left few survivors. Viserys would have perished, burnt alive... At least, that's what Westeros is convinced. Unfortunately, the truth is quite different. Prince Targaryen managed to escape the flames and death, but not without being wounded in the leg, thanks to survivors from the Golden Company. Once he had recovered from his wound, and while continuing to let Westeros believe that he was indeed dead, Viserys managed to join up with another exile from the Seven Crowns who was also in Essos. Euron Greyjoy. The latter had contacted the banished prince shortly before to propose an alliance. He offered him his help in conquering the Iron Throne on condition that, once on the throne and named king, Viserys offered his ally the crown of the Iron Islands. Vengeful and determined, Viserys accepted this alliance.
