Wonder Woman: Gods and Mortals

After John Byrne and Frank Miller's respective reworkings on Superman and Batman, DC hired writer Greg Potter to draft new concepts for Wonder Woman before being joined by joined by fellow writer (and artist) George Pérez. Their take on the character depicted her as an ambassador and emissary to man's world and leaned heavily into her Greek mythology roots. This was once again, a critical and financial success for DC and is widely considered to be the definitive take on the character's mythos.

Batman: Year One

Alec Baldwin's appearance as Batman in The Man of Steel was a highlight for many fans. Therefore, a similar reboot for the character was in order. Frank Miller, who had received critical acclaim for his landmark miniseries The Dark Knight Returns, was contracted to write the origin story. Batman: Year One received universal acclaim with praise directed towards the characterization of Batman and Gordon and the gritty, realistic take on Gotham City.

The Man of Steel

After the disastrous release of Superman III, Warner Bros. decided that Superman needed a reboot. The hiring of comic creator John Byrne, who planned to take the character back to basics, for the project received widespread media coverage. The film received critical and commercial acclaim and is considered by many to be the definitive Superman story. However, some retrospective criticism claims that it didn't understand and discarded the true character.

Batman: Outsiders

Despite the success of their cinematic universe, it was very evident that DC wasn't treating it as a top priority due to the irregular release schedule. Batman: Outsiders, intended for a 2018 release, was pushed back due to other creative projects and was delayed even further due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was announced as the final entry. Planned adaptations for Aquaman and the Flash were shelved and with the announcement of a reboot being helmed by Scott Snyder, it's likely we've seen the end of this franchise.

Wonder Woman: Paradise

Green Lantern II

Especially when an interplanetary incident forces their protector, Hal Jordan, to leave on a rescue mission that results in the discovery that there's a new player in the galaxy: Yellow Lanterns! While they seem a benign force for peace, Jordan can't get comfortable with how much power they wield, or their bizarre, lockstep behavior. When fellow Earthling John Stewart ends up with a yellow ring, he and Hal must work together to confront the being who destroyed the original Green Lantern Corps--the last surviving Guardian.

Green Lantern

Since the disastrous reception of 2011's Green Lantern, the execs at DC were apprehensive about approaching the character again. But fans were desperate to see more of the Green Lantern universe, especially after the cancellation of the animated series. Husband and wife duo, Gabriel Hardman and Corinna Bechko had a truly great pitch that was seemingly the polar opposite of what came before. The movie, which ironically starred another Ryan, received critical acclaim and is widely considered to be the best of the franchise

Teen Titans: Project Blackfire

After months on the run from the twisted project that created them, Cyborg, Terra, Beast Boy and Garth are near their breaking point, barely surviving on what they can steal, squatting in the ruins of an abandoned subdivision. But as they reach their lowest ebb, their creator, Dr. Niles Caulder, is ready to make his move…and they're about to learn that they weren't the only kids to go through Caulder's twisted process! There are more children with powers out there, and unlike our heroes, they were raised for only one purpose, to be the living weapons Caulder wants all his Titans to be!

Wonder Woman

After three Superman movies and two Batman movies, DC fans cried out "Where's Wonder Woman?" Who not only hadn't been introduced but at this point has had no theatrical release. Comic book legend Grant Morrison was in the writing chair this time. The movie, despite being a critical and commercial success, remains a divisive take on the character's mythos as well as an overall divisive entry for DC's films.

Teen Titans: Revelations

After the success of Superman and Batman, the higher-ups at Warner Bros. wanted a teen-led movie to compete with the likes of the Hunger Games and Maze Runner. While it received some cynical responses from older fans, it was a success and became the obsession of many teenagers and young adults for years.
