Annabel Rose is a young woman who loves to read her favorite childhood novel, "The Secret Garden," in every spare moment. However, Annabel suffers from severe autism, which made her always feel lonely, children at school avoided her and did not want to play with her, so she escaped into the world created in books. Even when she is an adult, she is under the care of her family. Her family has for some time been running a beautiful garden full of roses, which Annabel enjoys looking into. One day there she meets the main character of her favorite book-a girl named Mary Lennox. No one else but Annabel sees her. The story is set in 1925. Its protagonists are five friends, veterans of the Irish Civil War and the Irish War of Independence that preceded it. They are people who are greatly wronged by both wars.
