Our American Cousin
Our American Cousin is a farcical comedy whose plot is based on the introduction of an awkward, boorish American to his aristocratic English relatives. Asa Trenchard has come to Trenchard Manor to stake claim to land which has been bequeathed to him by Squire Mark Trenchard…until he meets the lovely Mary Meredith (Mark Trenchard’s granddaughter), and he makes a big decision that affects his life and hers. Many other “quirky” characters come into play during his visit. Although the 1858 play achieved great renown during its first few years and remained very popular throughout the second half of the 19th century, Our American Cousin is best remembered as the play Abraham Lincoln was attending at Ford’s Theatre when he was assassinated by actor and Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865.

She Kills Monsters
She Kills Monsters is a drama-comedy play by Qui Nguyen that debuted in 2011. It tells the story of Agnes Evans, an average woman who loses her parents and little sister Tilly in a car accident. The plot takes place in reality and in the imaginary game world; in the game world Agnes learns about Tilly's exploration with her sexuality and how she struggled with her sexuality in reality. The play is also presented in a "Young Adventurer's Edition" which removes the explicit language and ages down some of the characters.

Recasting Ryan Reynolds
Before y'all get your panties in a bunch (which is bound to happen even with my saying this) I do like Ryan Reynolds as an actor, but he too has become an incredibly safe casting choice; even in roles that he may not necessarily be good in. Michael Cooney’s riotous farce has all the ingredients for rib-tickling hilarity and offers a colorful selection of character roles. The hero, Eric Swan, has been laid off and never found the courage to tell his wife. Instead, he has invented a whole string of fictitious claimants living as lodgers at his home, and each week he cashes their benefit checks. Unfortunately, a man from the DSS arrives on the very morning that Swan, realizing the scam is getting out of hand, has announced that one of his lodgers has died. A grief counsellor arrives, hotly pursued by a marriage-relations expert and an undertaker. As a result, Swan and his reluctant collaborator, Norman McDonald, have to invent a whole repertory company of fake identities and fictitious family relationships, and there are delirious passages when everyone on stage seems to be talking at cross-purposes. The panicky mayhem kicks in early and never lets up, and the ludicrous plot is developed with an insane logic that touches on the inspirational. And while the play’s subject matter is topical, the farce is as reassuringly familiar. Huge-chested old boots are groped in the mistaken impression that they are chaps in drag, dead bodies that aren’t really dead are subjected to terrible indignities and Michael Cooney seems touchingly convinced that he is the first writer ever to have considered the comic possibilities of the word “Uranus”.
