The Dark Knight Returns

The Dark Knight Returns tells a story that begins 10 years after the retirement of the masked vigilante Batman. Heroes in the world are extinct by law and Superman , the last one in action, is an American secret agent, a super weapon used in cases of international war or crisis. The rise of crime in Gotham City , with the so-called "mutants" gang allied to Bruce Wayne 's unusual sense of justice, make the Batman emerge from the darkness of retirement and face the city's criminals. Batman is a man traumatized and tormented by his past, who uses intelligence and strength to do justice in a much more brutal and violent way compared to his previous activities, having as a limit the principle of never killing criminals.

The Batman: The Series

Bruce Wayne, just returning to Gotham City, decides to begin his battle against the mob and the corrupt police force after the daughter of the newly appointed Captain James Gordon, Barbara Gordon, is kidnapped in an attempt to gain leverage over one of the few non-corrupt members of the police force.

Batman Beyond : The Neo Bat

The Batman: No"s Man Land

Gotham City suffers the results of a magnitude 7.6 earthquake in the Cataclysm storyline. In response, the US government evacuates most of the civilian population, then declares Gotham a "no man's land", destroys all bridges leading to the island, and sets up a military blockade to prevent people from entering or exiting. Gangs and various supervillains Batman had battled over the years swiftly carve up the city. The city's police's commissioner, James Gordon, and several members of his department, who dub their gang the Blue Boys stay behind to protect civilians. Oracle and Huntress also end up on the inside. Bruce Wayne leaves the city to lobby the government to continue aid to Gotham, but fails. Gordon and his men wait for Batman's return, but he disappears for months, leading the police to believe that he has abandoned Gotham. A bitterly disappointed Gordon denounces Batman and refuses to even speak his name. Huntress attempts to keep order, fashioning a Batgirl costume. She soon discovers that criminals fear her more as Batgirl than they do as Huntress and succeeds in holding territory of her own.
