It was created by James Gunn and Peter Safran, co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios. The franchise is a soft reboot of the DC Extended Universe, a film franchise featuring DC characters.

Superman is an upcoming superhero film based on the DC Comics superhero of the same name. It is the first film and installment in the DC Universe, and the first film of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The film is set to be released on July 11, 2025.

Justice League [DCU]

As it's been recently confirmed by James Gunn, The DCEU is coming to an end. The universe as a whole is being rebooted, some actors will be returning and some won't. But until we get more information I'm going to assume that none of the former cast will be returning to play the same role (with a few exceptions).
