Biography

The Short-eared Owl can be seen flying over fields during morning and the evening hours in the same manner as hawks. This owl migrates to the arctic shores and on to the arctic islands in the spring and this is where it feeds on lemmings and small birds. It is more apt to nest and live on the ground than in trees. During its fall migration it is not uncommon to see large gatherings of these owls all resting on the ground together.
