Seth Aaron Rogen (born April 15, 1982) is a Canadian actor, comedian, and filmmaker. Known primarily for his comedicย leading manย roles in films, the accolades he has received include nominations for threeย Golden Globe Awards, fiveย Primetime Emmy Awards, aย Screen Actors Guild Award, and anย Independent Spirit Award.
Originally aย stand-up comedianย in Vancouver, Rogen moved to Los Angeles for a part inย Judd Apatow's seriesย Freaks and Geeksย in 1999 and got a part in Apatow's sitcomย Undeclaredย in 2001, which also hired him as a writer. Rogen landed a job as a staff writer on the final season ofย Da Ali G Showย (2004), for which the writing team was nominated for aย Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. Apatow subsequently guided him toward a film career.
His first movie appearance was a minor role inย Donnie Darkoย (2001), and he had a supporting part in Apatow's directorial debut,ย The 40-Year-Old Virginย (2005), which he co-produced. He had leading roles in Apatow's comediesย Knocked Up (2007) andย Funny Peopleย (2009). Rogen and his writing partner,ย Evan Goldberg, co-wrote the filmsย Superbadย (2007),ย Pineapple Expressย (2008),ย The Green Hornetย (2011), andย This Is the Endย (2013) and directedย This Is the Endย andย The Interviewย (2014), all of which starred Rogen. He had further comedic roles inย Zack and Miri Make a Pornoย (2008),ย Neighborsย (2014),ย its 2016 sequel,ย The Disaster Artistย (2017), andย Long Shotย (2019). He has played dramatic roles inย 50/50 (2011),ย Take This Waltzย (2011),ย Steve Jobsย (2015) andย The Fabelmansย (2022). He also starred in theย FX on Huluย miniseriesย Pam & Tommyย (2022), for which he receivedย Primetime Emmyย andย Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actorย nominations.
Rogen co-developed theย AMCย television seriesย Preacherย (2016โ2019), serving as writer, executive producer, and director. He has also executive produced theย Amazon Prime Videoย superhero seriesย The Boysย from 2019 andย Invincibleย from 2021. Rogen is also known for his voice roles in the animated filmsย Shrek the Thirdย (2007)ย and Horton Hears a Who!
