Sam RockwellΒ (born November 5, 1968) is an American actor. He is known for playing distressed police officer Jason Dixon inΒ Martin McDonagh's crime dramaΒ Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, MissouriΒ (2017), for which he won theΒ Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. The following year, he was nominated in the same category for portrayingΒ inΒ Adam McKay's political satireΒ ViceΒ (2018). In 2019, he portrayedΒ Bob FosseΒ in theΒ FX biographical miniseriesΒ Fosse/Verdon, earning a nomination for aΒ Primetime Emmy Award, and in 2022, he received aΒ Tony AwardΒ nomination for his performance in theΒ BroadwayΒ revival ofΒ David Mamet'sΒ American Buffalo.
