Michael Kenneth MannΒ (born February 5, 1943) is an American film director, screenwriter, author and producer. Best known for his stylisedΒ crime dramas, he has won twoΒ Primetime Emmy Awards, as well as earned nominations for fourΒ Academy Awards, twoΒ Golden Globe Awards, and aΒ BAFTA Award. His most acclaimed works include the filmsΒ ThiefΒ (1981),Β ManhunterΒ (1986),Β The Last of the MohicansΒ (1992),Β HeatΒ (1995),Β The InsiderΒ (1999),Β AliΒ (2001),Β CollateralΒ (2004),Β Public Enemies (2009), andΒ FerrariΒ (2023). He was executive producer on the popular TV seriesΒ Miami Vice (1984β90), which he adapted into aΒ 2006 feature film.
