Juliet (Measure for Measure)
Juliet is Claudio’s fiancée in "Measure for Measure." We see very little of her in the play but her role is important as it shows how harsh Angelo is being and how unfair the world of Vienna is towards women. Juliet is a strong image in the play as she is heavily pregnant and a symbol of both vulnerability and sin. At the start of the play, her pregnancy is public knowledge and we see her taken through the streets, accompanying Claudio to jail.
