Clifford the Big Red Dog is the title character and the main protagonist of the Clifford the Big Red Dog book series, written by Norman Bridwell and originally published in 1963, and the television series of the same name, which is based upon the book series and ran from 2000 to 2003 on PBS Kids.He is one of the world's most renowned storybook characters and the official mascot of Scholastic.
