Synopsis

Since the casting for the new movie has been shared, I wanted to propose how I imagined the characters while reading. I feel that Heathcliff should have three actors (child, teenager, and adult) and Catherine should have two actors (child and teenager) to most accurately represent their different ages. Their ages are only estimated, but they are believed to be about the same age and met when they were about 6-8 years old. The next milestone in the story is when Catherine is 18-19. Then we see Heathcliff as an adult where he is said to appear 40 years old.

For this role, the actor should appear 19-20 years old. Heathcliff is described as having dark eyes and hair, a tall figure, and a dark complexion. The original text describes Heathcliff as a "dark-skinned gipsy" and "a little Lascar", which was a 19th-century term for Indian sailors. However, some say that Heathcliff could have been Black or of mixed race, given the historical context of the novel's time period. Especially in his later years, he is very brooding, mysterious, and intense.
