For Wingut, he was once a human pilot from the air force. During battle, he injured and lost his legs and is stuck in wheelchair. He once came home with his friend to visit relatives. One night when the mutagen accident two canisters fell and collapse on them both. Turning them both in the last thing that they come into contact, a bat and a mosquito. While at first being shocked at being a mutant, he and his friend soon learn enough that there are other mutants in New York roaming and hiding from sight. Eventually they both came to the Mighty Mutanimals as recent recruits. Thanks to the effort of Dr. Tyler Rockwell (Monkey brains)
