Ed Calagan is a successful former director of big-budget action films. But soon, he loses all his inspiration, beginning a long period of professional inactivity. Ed becomes depressed and when he tries to commit suicide, Max, an attacker kidnaps him hoping to exchange him for a large sum of money.
