Description of Artis G. Watson (Art Watson):

The neurotic protagonist who seems to always be having a mid-life crisis, Watson finds himself in Kentucky where he becomes the principal of a local high school... At the height of the cold war, he is fired after being accused of having socialist sympathies by other faculty members. Later, he moves to suburban Ohio where after becoming known locally for his opinion pieces in the local newspaper, the young man is elected mayor of his town. He is nominated for governor of Ohio by the Democratic party in 1978. (although it's said that they did this in the hopes as they were actually trying to lose, due to whatever political strategy they saw in that.) His story will continue from there...
