  • thecookieprincess The story is set in the 19th century in Africa, initially a few dozen years before the Anglo-Zulus war. One of the British colonies, is invaded by a group of Zulus who kill all the inhabitants and loot what they find. One of the young Zulus warriors-23-year-old Azibo-finds a dead English woman with a live infant lying beside her. He doesn't want to kill the baby, instead wrapping it in some rags and lying to the leader that the loot is wrapped in it. When they return to the village Azibo returns to his hut where his wife Nala and their 2-year-old daughter Kwame are waiting. He asks his wife to keep the secret and do everything to make sure no one finds out that they have a white colonizers' child here. They name the boy Kofi. Years pass, the boy grows up and is raised with his foster sister Kwame. Until one day the truth comes out. The boy, already 12 years old, is found by one of the Zulus warriors who tells their ruler about it. Although he initially wants to kill the boy, his foster parents come to his defense. They ask for mercy claiming that he is not guilty of anything. The king decides to spare the boy and train him as a warrior, but points out that he cannot marry any woman from the village and have children with her. More years pass, Kofi grows up, undergoes more and more murderous training, and in between, a great love is secretly born between him and Kwame. When Kofi is already 26 years old, he faces the ultimate challenge- To defeat the most outstanding Zulu warrior named Bamidele. He is huge, almost two meters tall, and has gone through more than one skirmish in his life escaping with his life. However, Kofi defeats him not only with strength but also with cunning, but shows a good heart and does not kill him. Thus, he gets great recognition from the king and becomes his best warrior. A few months pass when it turns out that the English have entered the territory of Zululand. This is the moment of the Anglo-Zulus war. When the battle for Rorke's Drift begins Kofi sees people who look like him-they are white, he doesn't understand what they are saying, having been raised among the Zulus he never learned his native language-English. Of course, he goes into battle against them, which shocks them. The battle is lost by the Zulus, the English take Kofi prisoner, but they can't get anything out of him. At night he is found by Kwame who frees him. Together, under cover of darkness, they escape to the village.
