The year 1914, the beginning of World War I. French suffragette Anaïs Moulin, wanting to be equal to men, disguises herself as a man and enlists in the army. During her service, she meets a man named Raphaël Blanchet in whom she recognizes her childhood friend. When they are in private, he learns her true sex, but decides to help her hide it.
