The main protagonist of the film, Shin Hayata is a Japanese-American USAF pilot who would be testing out a new prototype jet courtesy of Monarch. His craft collides with Nii-San's from space. Feeling remorse for Hayata's death, Nii-San merges his life with Shin's, becoming the titular Ultraman.
